Speech Title: Data Mining Techniques for Analysing Gene Expression Data
Abstract: Cancer is curable if it can be detected early. When a normal cell becomes cancerous there will be change in expression of many genes in that cell. Identification of these gene expression changes in cancer tissue may lead to the development of novel tools for early diagnosis and effective therapeutics. Gene expression databases contain the expression levels of many genes in different samples/tissues. In data mining perspective, these genes are features. In this talk, an algorithm for frequent itemset mining especially for wide databases like gene expression data base and its application in identification of signature genes will be presented.
